Dr. Iñigo Sánchez is currently a research fellow at the NOVA FCSH Ethnomusicology Institute - Center for Studies in Music and Dance (INET-md) in Lisbon (Portugal), where he is the Principal Investigator of the “Sounds of Tourism” project, funded by the Portuguese Research Council.
He is also member of the steering committee of LXnights, an international research network based in Lisbon that focuses on the emerging field of night studies.
Iñigo Sánchez Fuarros received his PhD in anthropology from the University of Barcelona (Spain). He is currently an assistant researcher at the Institute for Ethnomusicology (INET-MD) at NOVA University in Lisbon and guest lecturer at the Music Department of the same institution. His research interests focus on the study of music as a social and cultural phenomenon in three interdisciplinary domains: the relationship between music, identity and migration; the field of sound studies, and the study of music in urban settings. He is the author of the monograph Cubaneando en Barcelona. Música, migración y experiencia urbana (CSIC, 2012). His research has been published in different academic journals ) and edited books.
