Workshop: Extinction Rebellion

The talk/lab will outline why debating individual consumer behaviour will not help us out of the crisis but only lead to a further split of society. There are solutions to the climate crisis, but the political will to implement them is missing.

As we are running out of time to avert collapse, only a global mass movement demanding justice and a change of the political framework might be the last chance. We will give a brief overview of the latest (devastating) politics and latest (just as devastating) scientific facts explaining the problem of feedback loops and tipping points and why our scientific predictions seem to be too conservative. Then we will present mass civil disobedience and XR actions from the last months as a possible tool to address the crisis, build a movement, and to push governments to change course. No one has to like XR or join XR.
